Virtual and real worlds collide in NAU Theater production

Water by the Spoonful on stage

NAU Theater will stage Quiara Alegria Hudes’ Water by the Spoonful this month in the Studio Theater.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning play tells the story of Elliot, a solider who struggles to find friendship and family after serving in Iraq and returning home to Philadelphia. The play follows Elliot as he finds solitude in a chat room for recovering addicts.

Divided into 15 short scenes, Hudes embraces the works of John Coltrane’s free jazz to add musicality to the play.

Water by the Spoonful will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26-27 and March 2-5. There will be a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Feb. 28 and March 6.

Individual tickets for the performance are $14 for adults; $12 for seniors and NAU staff; $8 for children and NAU students with an ID. Tickets can be purchased from the Central Ticket Office by calling (928) 523-5661 or by visiting nau.edu/cto.

Free parking is available after 4:30 p.m. and on weekends in parking lot P13, behind the Cline Library.
