The School of Music Guest Artist Series presents a special performance by violinist Alicia Doudna at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 29 at Ashurst Hall. Her touching story of recovery is a testament to the healing power of music.
Two years ago, Doudna and her fiancé were in a serious car accident that resulted in severe traumatic brain injuries and a comatose period for both of them. Doudna, who has played the violin since she was 2 years old, was able to play the instrument again before she regained the ability to talk. And despite the neurosurgeon’s prognosis of a 1 percent chance of recovery, Doudna is once again performing at a professional level.
