One of the country’s top business leaders will speak on campus next week.
Steven Whisler, retired chairman and chief executive officer for Phelps Dodge, Corp., will speak at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in the Gardner Auditorium of The W.A. Franke College of Business.
Whisler will share his observations and advice based on his more than 25 years of experience in the business world. He recently retired from Phelps Dodge following its acquisition by Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold Inc., having served as its chief operating officer since January 2000, and as president of the company from 1997 through 2003.
He also has been a director of America West Holdings Corp. since 2001. Whisler’s experience includes serving as the director of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp, and as director of the Southern Peru Copper Corp.
Following the discussion, Whisler, along with William Franke, who donated $25 million to the business college last year, will meet with smaller groups of students and faculty.
Tim Daly, chairman and chief executive officer for Bar-S Foods, also will share his business insight with the college during his talk at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, in the Gardner Auditorium of The W.A. Franke College of Business.
The event is free, but due to limited seating, tickets are required for both speakers. Tickets can be picked up in room 214 of The W.A. Franke College of Business. For information, call (928) 523-3657.
