  • Kate Yaw and Mohammedreza (Reza) Dalman, doctoral students in applied linguistics, received dissertation grants to carry out their studies under the directorship of Okim Kang, professor of English. Yaw’s study is titled, “Accent Familiarity Training on Listener Processing of L2 Accented Speech” and Dalman’s study is titled, “Online-Based Intelligibility Instruction for Second Language Learners.”
  • The NAU women’s tennis team earned All-Academic Team honors awarded by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. In addition, all eight members of the team—Elinor Beazley, Mimi Bland, Emilie Haakansson, Ellie Millard, Madi Moore, Sydney Roman, Adrianna Sosnowska and Chiara Tomasetti—were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for earning a minimum GPA of 3.5 during the academic year.
  • The NAU football team had several members receive honors. Kickers Luis Aguilar and DJ Arnson were named to the 2020 Big Sky Football Preseason All-Conference Team. Aguilar, Arnson and Brandon Porter were named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-Big Sky First Team. Stacy Chukwumezie, Justin Hathoot, Donovan Outlaw, Luke Rudolph and Carson Taylor earned Phil Steele All-Big Sky Third Team honors.
