Student concerto competition winners to perform

Winners of the 2014 NAU Community Music and Dance Academy Orchestra Concerto Competition will perform their winning pieces in concert with the Academy Orchestra on stage beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 11, in Ardrey Memorial Auditorium.

The Academy Orchestra, conducted by Jon Eder, will perform the movements from the winning concertos, including pieces from violinists Elizabeth Scarnati and Fiona Carroll and trombonist Alex Burdiss.

NAU faculty members and professional musicians will join the ensemble in a side-by-side setting during the first half of the concert for the concertos. The second half will include Haydn’s Symphony No. 94 (‘Surprise’ Symphony).

The concert is free and open to the public. For information, email Amy.Tackitt@nau.edu.
