State of Climate Action webinar to provide latest climate updates for NAU, Flagstaff community

The “State of Climate Action” webinar, hosted by the Environmental Caucus, Center for Ecosystem Science and Society (Ecoss) and the City of Flagstaff’s Sustainability Program, will be held online from 2-3:10 p.m. on Oct. 1. The event will provide updates on the state of climate action for Northern Arizona University and Flagstaff communities.

Representing NAU, associate professor of earth and sustainability Erik Nielsen and sustainability manager of Facility Services Matthew Muchna will provide updates on developing NAU’s Climate Action Plan. Christina Shädel, assistant research professor of biological sciences, along with doctoral student Megan Foley, will highlight Ecoss’s Carbon Offsets Program. Additionally, speakers will be joined by climate engagement coordinator Jillian Goulet and Ramon Alatorre from the City of Flagstaff’s Sustainability Program to provide updates on the Climate Emergency Declaration.
