Shrine of the Ages Choir, Master Chorale to perform holiday concert

NAU’s Shrine of the Ages Choir will join the Master Chorale of Flagstaff to present “Magnificent Skies: Christmas in the Mountains!” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec 11, in Ardrey Memorial Auditorium on the NAU campus.

This is the first time the two groups are joining forces for the annual holiday concert. They will be under the direction of Edith Copley, director of Choral Studies.

The performance will include John Rutter’s Magnificat, a seven-movement work sung in Latin, featuring NAU sopranos Lies’l Hill, a senior in choral music education, Aubrey Denton, a junior elementary education major, and Michelle Cardon, a junior in choral music education.

Members of the Shrine of the Ages Choir and the Master Chorale will perform Rutter’s Magnificat again in March in Carnegie Hall in New York City.

The Master Chorale—including more than 95 voices—as well as Arizona Mountain Chorale, a select chamber choir, and the Children’s Chorale of Flagstaff, also will perform many well-known seasonal favorites during the concert, and the audience will be invited to sing along for a portion.

Tickets are available in advance by calling Central Ticketing at (928) 523-5661. Adults $20; Seniors $18; Students $6.
