Northern Arizona University’s Shrine of the Ages Choir will present two free concerts in northern Arizona on April 13-14.
The choir will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at the Church of the Red Rocks, 54 Bowstring Dr., Sedona. The second performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, at the Shepherd of the Hills Church, 1601 N. San Francisco St., Flagstaff. Both concerts are free and open to the public.
Under the direction of Edith Copely, director of choral studies, the singers will perform several standards including Trois Chansons by French composer Maurice Ravel and the fourth movement of Requiem by German composer Johannes Brahms. To prepare for the international tour to Bulgaria and Turkey this summer, the choir will perform two folk songs, the Bulgarian Sednalo e djore Dos and the Turkish Suda Balik Oynuyor. The choir also will perform set pieces by American composers Allen Koepke, René Clausen and Mack Willberg.
