NAU summer youth camps combine learning and fun

Camp dates have been set for a variety of youth and sports camps offered by Northern Arizona University to keep the community active and learning this summer.

This year’s programming includes:

Mountain Jacks Kids Camp
Children in kindergarten through fifth grade can enjoy morning activities of sports and field games, arts and crafts and experiential education sessions, while the afternoon portion of the camp is aquatic-based. Camp hours are Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Half-day options also are available.

Explorers Camp 
An activity-based and adventure education camp for kids in sixth through eighth grades. Explorers venture around NAU’s campus, Flagstaff and surrounding areas. Camp is held Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Half-day options also are available.

Summer Sports Leagues
Community members ages 18 and up can join one of three separate leagues for outdoor and indoor soccer, basketball and kickball this summer. The cost is $10 per player for NAU students, faculty and staff and $20 per player for non-NAU affiliates. For registration information, contact Erik.Jaeke@nau.edu.

Centennial Forest Environmental Education Camp
Five youth programs, for ages 9 to 16, connect youth to the outdoors through hands-on education, teamwork activities and leadership skills. The programs also provide a glimpse of forest science and wildlife research.

Curry Summer Music Camp
Established in 1950, the Curry Summer Music Camp offers junior high and high school students the opportunity for musical immersion and social interaction with one another.

Athletics Summer Camps and Clinics
Geared toward young athletes, programs exist for those looking to elevate their game in a variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, football and volleyball.
