Oguzhan Bayrak, a professor in the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, will present at a free public lecture next week.
His presentation, titled “Structural Engineering in the 21st Century: Challenges and Opportunities,” begins at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the Raul Castro SBS building (#65), room 111.
Bayrak will discuss the role of the engineer in the 21st century and the challenges they face to “do more with less.” To meet this challenge, Bayrak suggests engineers will be required to span their traditional roles and work within interdisciplinary teams and base their decisions on scientific facts that exist at multiple scales.
