April 17, 2019

The Lumberjack family is invited to come together in honor of the life of John Wettaw, former Northern Arizona University professor and Arizona state legislator. The ceremony will be at 1 p.m. April 27 in the Wettaw building (88) on north campus and will celebrate his commitment to education and service.

Wettaw was known for his impact both in his field and the classroom. A chemistry professor and longtime state legislator, Wettaw retired from NAU after 47 years of service and the legislature after 28 years of service, having served in both the House and Senate. Former colleagues and students describe him as a mentor, leader and friend, bringing humor and passion to his every day work. Wettaw died on Dec. 16, 2018. He was 79 years old.
