  • Student affairs graduate assistant Stephen Hosburg was named a recipient of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Region VI Graduate Rising Star Award. NASPA’s Graduate Rising Star Award recognizes a student pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in a student affairs degree program for their achievement, involvement and potential in the field. Hosburg, an NAU alumnus and graduate assistant for the Residential Colleges program, is in his final year of the master’s program. 
  • Women’s volleyball player Abby Akin was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and the fifth time in her career. She racked up 13 blocks against Weber State, making her the first Lumberjack in 28 years to register that many blocks in a single match. 
  • Art education student Vanessa Mora was named the winner of the 2019 Outstanding Higher Education Student Achievement Award. She will be honored at the Get Fired Up Conference presented by the Arizona Art Education Association in Prescott on Oct. 25. 
  • The German Club recently participated in National Cleanup Day, a project that asks groups that have adopted a highway to cleanup roadside litter. NAU’s German Club has been participating in cleanup projects for more than 15 years.
