- Olivia Lindly, assistant professor in the Department of Health Sciences, received the 2021 AcademyHealth Nemours Child Health Services Research Award. This award recognizes scientific research in the child health services field, particularly in quality improvement of pediatric health services.
- Carol Chambers, professor in the School of Forestry, is invited to be a plenary speaker at the Alaska Chapter of the Wildlife Society Annual 2021 meeting. Her talk, “The Importance of Diversity” addresses the value of diverse members in the wildlife profession.
- Sharon Moses, associate professor in the Department of Anthropology, published “Forensic Art & Anthropology,” in Practicing Anthropology. Her article focuses on teaching NAU students about forensic art drawing methods. The publication features the forensic artwork created by five of Moses’s students.
- Kristen Waring, professor in the School of Forestry, co-authored an original research article published in Frontiers in Plant Science. The article, titled “Assessment and Models of Insect Damage to Cones and Seeds of Pinus strobiformis in the Sierra Madre Occidental, Mexico,” talks about seed and cone insects located in the southwestern white pine of Mexico.
- Christopher Edwards, associate professor in the Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science, and 28 co-authors including Nathan Smith, Aaron Weintraub, Kathryn Powell, Mark McAdam and Kelly Harris-Laurila of NAU wrote a paper titled, “The Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) Emirates Mars InfraRed Spectrometer (EMIRS) Instrument,” which was accepted in Space Science Reviews.
- Cristina Thomas, assistant professor in the Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science, co-authored a paper titled “The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART): Planetary Defense Investigations and Requirements,” published by The Planetary Science Journal.
- Ari Koeppel, a fourth-year Ph.D. student, and Christopher Edwards, associate professor in the Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science, co-authored a paper titled “A fragile record of fleeting water on Mars,” which was accepted in Geology.
