  • The Rocky Mountain/Southwest chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences honored NAU’s School of Communication with student production awards in two categories at its 2025 regional student awards ceremony. NAU earned first prize in the College Newscast category—recognizing students Alyssa Munoz, Makayla Richardson, Ava Nichols, Kayleigh Doyle, Jordan Vallender, Noah McNeil and Connor Emery for their NAZ Today Super Bowl coverage—and the College Animation, Graphics and Special Effects category for Ariel Rieghard’s project “The Secret Garden Title Sequence.” 
  • Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Uri Farkas was appointed to the NCAA Division I Track and Field/Cross Country Oversight Committee. As the Big Sky Conference’s representative, Farkas will help select teams and individuals for national championships, establish and review qualifying criteria and oversee the conduct and administration of championships within his division. 
  • NAU quarterback Ty Pennington earned Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week honors following his career-high performance against the Southern Utah University Thunderbirds on Sept. 13. Pennington leads the Big Sky in total offense, passing yards, passing touchdowns, points responsible for and points responsible per game, ranking in the top 20 nationally in all five categories.
