  • NAU’s Center for International Education (CIE) hosted an international Climate Science group of eight professionals from the Near East and North Africa on March 10. Sponsored by Global Ties Arizona, the group traveled to the United States through the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. During their stop at NAU, the group was greeted by NAU’s leaders in the Office of Native American Initiatives, Ann Marie Chischilly, Ora Marek-Martinez and Ron Lee. They learned more about NAU’s Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals from co-director Mehrdad Khatibi. Following this, CIE hosted a roundtable discussion on climate solutions with the international guests and students of Climate Science and Solutions and students of the Green Fund at NAU. The visit prompted an excellent sharing of ideas and cultures across international borders around the unique approaches to address the climate crisis worldwide.
