- Sara Rinfret, professor in the Department of Politics and International Affairs, was selected as a government champion for the government collaboration initiative Local Gov 250, being one of 11 chosen Arizonan public servants. Government champions are individuals involved in cities, counties, regional councils and state and federal governments who have made significant impacts in the realm of public service.
- Department of Sociology assistant teaching professor Ibrahim Berrada recently published two academic papers. The first, “A policy review and rhetorical analysis of neo-racist populist discourse on the UK-Rwanda partnership,” was published in the Southwestern Journal of International Law and uses textual analysis software to measure anti-migrant rhetoric in speeches delivered by British government leaders from 2022-2024 during the U.K.-Rwanda partnership. The second paper, “Self-Evaluating the Design of a Financial Literacy Program Using a Culturally Responsive Indigenous Evaluation Framework,” was published in the Journal of Indigenous Wellbeing and evaluates the design of a culturally responsive financial literacy program developed for Native American residents in the Southwest.
