  • Mowana Lomaomvaya, archivist for Indigenous Initiatives and Cultures with Cline Library Special Collections and Archives, presented at “Following Knowledge Forward,” a conference hosted by the American Philosophical Society’s Center for Native American and Indigenous Research, in Philadelphia in October. Lomaomvaya presented on the Cline Library team’s collaborative work with the Seven Generations Indigenous Knowledge Center (7Gen Center) to develop the Indigenous Knowledges Digital Learning Library, an open-access repository for digital materials sharing Indigenous knowledge and providing Indigenous perspectives on a variety of topics and disciplines. 
  • Six students from the Sports and Adventure Media certificate program—seniors Tony Bracha and Noah Butler, juniors Bryan Adams and Connor Emery and sophomores Alyssa Munoz and Adriana Sparks—covered the College Football Playoff national quarterfinal Fiesta Bowl in Glendale on Dec. 31. Additionally, sports and adventure media senior Ava Nichols worked as a seasonal intern with the Fiesta Bowl’s media relations staff for the fall semester, bringing the number of sports reporters representing NAU at the game as active students to seven.   
  • Northern Arizona University ranked No. 1 in the state for best value colleges and universities based on a 2024 study completed by the financial technology company SmartAsset. The study ranked schools based on five categories: tuition, student living costs, scholarship and grant offerings, student retention rates and starting salary for new graduates.
