- Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science (APS) professor Josh Emery and associate professor Cristina Thomas co-authored the paper “JWST Reveals Varied Origins Between Jupiter’s Irregular Satellites,” published in the Planetary Science Journal. The study looks at the composition of eight of Jupiter’s irregular satellites and uses the data to develop hypotheses on the circumstances of their creation.
- APS doctoral student Amelia Ascione was the first author of the paper “New observations of topographic slumps in Valles Marineris, Mars: Investigating the role of recurring slope lineae,” published in Icarus. The study uses about 15 years of compiled Mars images to identify eight new topographic slumps, or small-scale landslides, on the planet’s surface.
