  • The NAU Police Department received an accreditation award from the Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ALEAP). In order to grant accreditation, ALEAP conducts in-depth internal reviews of law enforcement agencies’ policies, procedures, operations and training with the goal of building community trust and confidence in police departments.  
  • NAUPD Officer Leander Adson earned the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Flagstaff Post, Officer of the Year award at VFW’s banquet Feb. 3.  
  • NAU Track & Field was named the Big Sky Commissioner’s “Team of the Month” after beginning their season with the highest week one U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national rankings in program history. They saw multiple event wins, as well as a new school and conference record, at the third annual Ron Mann Classic.  
  • NAU Track & Field athletes Garret Bernt and Ruby Smee were named Big Sky Athletes of the Week for their strong performances at the Ron Mann Classic. Bernt was named Big Sky Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after a school and conference record-breaking weight throw putting him at 10th in the nation in the event. Smee was named Big Sky Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after finishing her race in third place.
