- Two assistant professors were awarded the CAREER grant by the National Science Foundation: Amir Arzani, department of mechanical engineering, and Amanda De la Torre, School of Forestry.Arzani’s grant will fund his current research on fluid flow computer modeling education, and De la Torre’s grant will fund her research on forest genetics and epigenetics.
- Northern Arizona University has been named the #4 Online Post-Master’s Nurse Practitioner Certificate Programs in the country by NursePractitionerOnline.com. This ranking is based off the diversity of programs, accreditation, acceptance rate, tuition costs and the experience of faculty.
- Eric Yordy, professor in the W. A. Franke College of Business, has been appointed to serve a second four-year term on the Arizona State Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
- Northern Arizona University has been ranked No. 1 in eight higher education programs by Intelligent.com. Rankings are based on program strength, student readiness, return on investment, cost and student engagement.

- Northern Arizona University also was rated as a “green light” institution by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education. “Green light” schools do not threaten protected expression under the First Amendment and make up only 12.1 percent of rated universities.
- Northern Arizona University was named to PRNews’ 2022 Education A-List, which includes U.S. institutions training PR and marketing professionals. The list takes into account curriculum, diversity, faculty, academic awards, capstone courses, innovation and internship opportunities.
- Kevin Daniels, a freshman running back, has been chosen to be a part of the 2021 FCS All-American Team by Hero Sports. He is one of six running backs in the subdivision to make the freshman team.
- The Staff Advisory Council, with the help of NAU staff, was able to collect 75 gifts for 25 children and over $2,000 in gift cards for the Coconino CASA for Kids’ Giving Tree Program. These donations will be delivered to the children at the end of the month.
