- School of Informatics, Computing, and Cyber Systems associate professor Michael Gowanlock, Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science (DAPS) chair David Trilling, NAU alumni Andrew McNeill and Daniel Kramer and graduate research assistant Maria Chernyavskaya co-authored the paper “Asteroid Period Solutions from Combined Dense and Sparse Photometry,” which determined the rotation periods of over 180 astronomical objects using asteroid observational records from multiple ground- and space-based telescopes.
- DAPS student Hunter Brooks co-authored the paper “Discovery of a Hypervelocity L Subdwarf at the Star/Brown Dwarf Mass Limit,” recently published in The Astrophysical Journal. This study, detailing the observation of a high-velocity, low-mass star or brown dwarf traveling through the Milky Way, was covered on CNN and The New York Times.
