  • Steve Burrell, NAU’s chief information officer, has been appointed to Gov. Katie Hobbs’ AI Steering Committee. Those within this committee will help shape Arizona’s artificial intelligence policy and governance, ensuring it aligns with the state’s ethics and values. 
  • Matt A. Casado, professor emeritus, published the book “Federico García Lorca: Poet and Martyr.” The book is a tribute to García Lorca, a Spanish poet and playwright who explored social and political criticism as a member of the Generation of 1927. 
  • NAU psychology alumna Caroline Davis has been named the executive director of We Are Healers, a national Indigenous-led organization dedicated to amplifying Native voices in health and medicine. In this role, Davis will oversee the nonprofit’s expanding programs, partnerships and strategic initiatives. 
  • James I. Bowie, teaching professor for the Department of Sociology, earned an Alvin A. Achenbaum Travel Grant from Duke University’s Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising and Marketing History. Bowie was selected for the project “The 20th-Century Development of the Logo as a Cultural Object.”
