Northern Arizona University’s Honors Program will showcase the campus and the Flagstaff community as host of the Western Regional Honors Council’s annual conference next week at the High Country Conference Center.
Attendees include representatives from both community colleges and four-year colleges and universities; public and private institutions; and by both Honors programs and colleges—some quite new and others that have existed for decades.
Sessions will span an array of topics and subjects, including literature, politics, popular culture, history, science, math, the arts, environmentalism and education. A number of sessions also will cover the administrative side of Honors, showcasing both successful programs and newly implemented ideas alike.
The conference concludes with keynote speaker Ken Herkenhoff, a research geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, who has been involved in Mars imaging, focusing on the design, calibration and operation of cameras on Mars spacecraft.
