After earning their first win at Stephen F. Austin, NAU Football returns to the Skydome with a matchup against New Mexico Highlands on Saturday Sept. 12. The day will be complete with a family friendly Fan Fest and a freshman tradition carried on by the Class of 2019.
During the annual Running of the Freshmen, NAU’s newest Lumberjacks will lead the football team into the Skydome. It’s a favorite tradition of football head coach Jerome Souers, who invites the community to join the spirited atmosphere.
“At 7,000 feet the Lawrence J. Walkup Skydome has become one of the toughest places to play in the Big Sky Conference,” said Souers in his blog post. “Our sights are set on the Big Sky Championship and with your support we can get there. We’ll bring the offense and smothering Jack defense and you bring the noise.”
Tailgating and the Lumberjack Fan Fest will begin three hours prior to each home game kickoff. Fan Fest is free and open until game time in parking lot 66 south of the Skydome and includes live feeds of college football games, giveaways, face painting, photo opportunities with Louie the Lumberjack and the Lumberjack walk.
Free game day parking will be available in lot 62. Parking also is available in the San Francisco Parking Garage for $10. Free shuttle service from the lot and garage will begin three hours prior to each home game and will end one hour after the game ends. Kick off is set for 4 p.m. Tickets are available through NAU’s Central Ticket Office at (928) 523-5661.
Fans can watch the game on FOX Sports Arizona, FOX Sports Arizona PLUS and FOX College Sports Pacific and listen live to HITS 106.1 FM in Flagstaff and Money Radio 1510 AM and 99.3 FM in Phoenix.
