Michael Butcher from Residence Life and Jamie Patton from Educational Support Services will host a discussion, “What’s So Funny? A look at Ethnic-racial Humor in Higher Education” from 9:30 to 11 a.m. April 21 in Cline Library, room 200.
This session is open to campus and will explore how humor can be used to relieve the tension of stereotypes, but how it also reinforces them.
Sponsored by Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, the discussion will focus on why we laugh at ethnic-racial humor and will show practical ways to be proactive in creating positive discussions around the topic.
