Criminology experts to share research on white collar crime and media

The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice will host a presentation on white collar crime and media from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the du Bois Center Meadows Room.

Criminology experts Gray Cavender and Nancy Jurik will use a visual criminology approach to compare depictions of corporations in the 2002 and 2008 economic disasters. Hollywood films The Wolf of Wall Street and Margin Call and documentaries Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room and Inside Job will be discussed.

Cavender is a criminologist and professor of Justice and Social Inquiry at Arizona State University and the co-author of Corporate Crime Under Attack: The Fight to Criminalize Business Violence. Jurik is a sociologist and professor of Justice and Social Inquiry at Arizona State University. She is the co-author of Doing Justice, Doing Gender: Women in Legal and Criminal Justice Occupations.
