Asteroids ahead? Learn more at free talk

Asteroid.

If Earth’s recent brush with asteroid 2012 DA14 and the coincidental event in Russia have raised questions in your mind about what’s going on out there, “Getting to know asteroids” might offer some answers.

The free public talk by Erik Asphaug, Greeley Chair of Planetary Science at Arizona State University, will be held 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, in room 233 of the physical sciences building at Northern Arizona University.

Asphaug will address the role of asteroids in the origin of the solar system, present the policy ramifications of near-Earth asteroids and discuss the challenges and technologies for asteroid exploration.
