NAU President John Haeger’s campuswide call for instructional innovation is the impetus behind the upcoming Southwest institute for Learning with Technology at NAU.
The eLearning Center’s annual two-day conference will be held Feb. 21-22 in the 1899 Ballroom in the North Union, where participants will engage in conversations about topics such as blended learning, course development strategies and the effective use of learning technology.
Registration for the free conference is under way, and space is limited.
In addition to more than a dozen interactive sessions and workshops about classroom technology, the schedule also includes a panel discussion on blended learning at NAU, led by Don Carter, director of the eLearning Center.
“This year’s conference focuses on blended learning which demands active learning and supports numerous approaches to instruction,” Carter said. “It gives every student a voice and maximizes face-to-face interaction with faculty.”
Another highlight of the conference will be the keynote address beginning at 2 p.m. Feb. 21 by Norm Vaughan. He is the coauthor of the book Blended Learning in Higher Education and education professor at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta.
