A sure sign of the fall semester returns to campus on Wednesday, Aug. 31, when Northern Arizona University hosts its annual welcome picnic for students, faculty and staff.
And yes, there will be dunk tanks.
The free picnic is planned for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the quad area between Aspen Crossing and Wilson Hall. NAU administrators will serve hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, chips and cookies, and don’t forget the ice cream, courtesy of Alumni Relations.
All the food will be served under tents, so the event will go forward regardless of the weather.
Besides the popular dunk tanks, which offer the opportunity to douse NAU coaches and administrators, activities include an obstacle course, High Striker, and Tug N Dunk Bungee.
NAU offers Welcome Week so that students can explore firsthand all that the university has to offer. Join a pep rally, try out a variety of exercise classes at the new Health and Learning Center, and visit some open houses during a packed calendar of events from Aug. 25 through Sept. 3.
A complete list of Welcome Week activities is available online.
