  • NAU, along with ASU and UArizona, received the Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association’s 2025 Honoree of the Year Award. The recognition celebrated each university’s work developing the state’s workforce and the hospitality and tourism industry’s contributions to Arizona’s economy. 
  • Steve Sanghi College of Engineering Dean Charles Chadwell was elected to serve a three-year term on the Arizona Technology Council board of directors. The council represents more than 750 statewide technology companies and organizes conferences to explore topics like cybersecurity, medical technology and artificial intelligence.  
  • The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VII recognized NAU  Communications with two Best of District VII Awards for research, medicine and science news writing. Communications director Heidi Toth was recognized for “How to put ‘building a rocket’ on your resume” and communications manager Jill Kimball was recognized for “Lifting the curtain on ancient Maya cities,” both for successfully translating NAU’s groundbreaking research into accessible, engaging stories that multiple international news outlets picked up. 
  • Shellee Diggs, a part-time faculty member in NAU’s School of Communication, recently completed her doctorate at Capella University. Her dissertation, titled “An Experiential Learning Experience for Healthcare Students in a Student-Run Free Clinic,” bridges communication and healthcare topics.
