  • Two professors from the School of Communication—Rich Rogers and Rodrigo de Toledo—were elected to tenure-track positions on the Faculty Status Committee, which regularly evaluates faculty members applying for promotions or tenure. Rogers will serve a three-year term, and de Toledo will serve a two-year term.
  • Astronomy and planetary science graduate student Amelia Ascione earned the Lunar and Planetary Institute’s Career Development Award at the 2025 Lunar and Planetary Science Conference. Award recipients, who must submit a research abstract in which they are the first author, are selected through a competitive review process completed by a panel of planetary scientists.
  • Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science alumni Lonnie Dausend and Audrey Martin joined professor Joshua Emery to write the paper “Measuring the Effects of Regolith Porosity on Mid-IR Spectra of the Allende Meteorite,” published in The Planetary Science Journal. The research uses Allende meteorite samples of varying particle sizes and mid-infrared spectroscopy to potentially improve the likelihood of accurately linking meteorite samples to their parent asteroids.
  • NAU was one of eight Arizona colleges and universities to be recognized by the Fair Elections Center’s Campus Vote Project and NASPA as a “Voter Friendly Campus” in 2025. To earn this designation, campuses must submit a plan for promoting democracy and engaging students ahead of the general election and a report detailing the results of this plan’s implementation.
