- Jut Wynne, assistant research professor for the Department of Biological Sciences and Center for Adaptable Western Landscapes, authored a paper alongside eight other international scientists. “Cave-dwelling crocodiles of Central Belize” summarizes the knowledge of the behavior to date.
- The Northern Arizona University track & field team members concluded their time at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships with All-American performances from David Dunlap, Nico Young and Alyssa Colbert.
- Dunlap finished seventh in the finals of the 200-meter, running a school record time of 20.16 to earn first-team All-American honors. Dunlap’s seventh-place finish was the highest in both NAU and Big Sky conference history in the event.
- Young competed in the 5,000-meter, running a strong race to finish eighth and earn first-team All-American status with a time of 14:10.17. This is Young’s second top-8 finish in the event, as he finished third in the 5K at last year’s national championships.
- Colbert was the lone Lumberjack competitor on the second day of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, putting up a strong effort in the semifinals of the 100-meter. She entered the race ranked 33rd in the nation but finished 21st overall in the semifinal round. Her time of 11.39 was her third fastest of the year and earned her honorable mention All-American honors.
- Director of Disability Resources Jamie Axelrod was recently featured in an article from the Chronicle of Higher Education. Within “More Students Want Virtual-Learning Options. Here’s Where the Debate Stands,” Axelrod expressed the importance of institutions in opening more virtual-learning options to allow students to make the best choice for their own circumstances. Axelrod also quoted in the Inside Higher Ed article “OCR Complaints Show Pandemic’s Effects.” In this article, Axelrod spoke about disability claims to the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) following the pandemic and the OCR’s vital role in assisting institutions to address and manage incoming claims.
