- For the ninth consecutive year, NAU’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report has met the requirements to be awarded the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. Additionally, the Comptroller’s Office has received the Award of Financial Reporting Achievement from the Association. This award highlights the outstanding work of assistant comptroller Anton Ciochetti, senior accountant Francine Dalgai, senior financial administration specialist Kristi Markey, assistant comptroller Brad Miner and senior financial planning and reporting analyst Anthea Vadasz.
- The Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals (ITEP) was recognized in Native News Online for their successful conference last week. The article, “Tribal, Indigenous Climate Change Conference Convenes in St. Paul,” discusses the events that took place during the four-day conference, including an overview of the workshops and training sessions on various environmental topics.
- NAU’s two-time All-American runner Drew Bosley was named the Big Sky’s first Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week. The Lumberjacks opened their season at the 42nd annual Geroge Kyte Classic, scoring only 15 points to secure a win against Arizona, Grand Canyon and Utah Tech. Bosley led the team to the finish line by running a personal best 22:09.1 on a 4.5-mile course. This is the second fastest time in George Kyte history, only 17 seconds behind teammate Ryan Raff’s 2019 time of 21:52.0.
- James Bowie, teaching professor in the Department of Sociology, was interviewed on KJZZ Phoenix about the design of the 2022 U.S. quarter coin. The interview expanded on Bowie’s July article in Fast Company about the tendency of logos to face right, rather than left.
