  • Justin Sima and Riley Waechter, former undergraduate students in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, along with their mentor Jeff Rushall, principal lecturer in the Department of Mathematic and Statistics, published a paper titled, “On Constructing Greek Ladders to Approximate any Real Algebraic Number,” in the International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology.  
  • DJ Arnson, punter for the NAU football team, has been named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy for the second time. The William V. Campbell Trophy honors academic success, on-field performance and leadership within the community.  
  • Jersus Colmenares, lecturer in the Department of Global Languages and Cultures, has been named the president-elect for the Arizona Language Association for the 2021-2022 year.  
  • Reiko Akiyama, lecturer in the Department of Global Languages and Cultures, received the Outstanding Foreign Language Teacher of the Year award at the post-secondary level by the Arizona Language Association. This award recognizes world language educations for the dedication, professionalism and for making a difference in the education of Arizona students.  
  • Northern Arizona University has been ranked as one of the top online master’s in education psychology degree programs by Online Psychology Degree Guide. The ranking is based on student-to-faculty ratio and average graduate tuition. 
  • Emery Eaves,associate professor in the Department of Anthropology, Jarrett Barber, associate professor in the School of Informatics, Computing, and Cyber Systems (SICCS), RyannWhealy, graduate research assistant in SICCS, SarahClancey, program director for the Institute for Human Development, RitaWright, faculty in the Department of Social Work, Jill Cocking, research specialist in SICCS, and CrystalHepp, associate professor in SICCS, co-authored “Characterization of Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome in Arizona from 2010-2017” published in PLoS One. 
  • Jaime Begay, graduate student in the Center for Health Equity Research, recently won the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona’s 2021 ITCA Climate Resilience Essay Scholarship Contest based on an essay she wrote titled “Climate Change in Tribal Communities.” 
  • Taylor Jacobsen, junior on the NAU volleyball team, was named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the week following her performance which led to a pair of team victories against Idaho and Eastern Washington.  
  • Jaewook Lee, assistant professor in the College of Arts and Letters, has work featured in two museum group shows in South Korea. “Wednesday is Indigo Blue” is being featured at the Daejeon Museum of Art Creative Center and “Nothing Makes Itself” is being featured at the Arko Art Center.  
  • Northern Arizona University was named as having one of the top online master’s in autism spectrum disorder degree programs by Applied Behavior Analysis Programs Guide. The ranking is based on student-to-faculty ratio and average graduate tuition.
