The curtains open on NAU Theatre’s first virtual performance

East of the Sun, West of the Moon flierThe NAU Department of Theatre is preparing to kick off its 2020-21 season with “East of the Sun, West of the Moon,” an adaptation of a Norwegian folktale by award-winning playwright Tina Howe and directed by NAU Theatre department chair Kathleen M. McGeever.

“East of the Sun, West of the Moon” is an enchanting tale of love and inner strength where spells and darkness can be conquered. Follow the story of young Tove whose family thrusts her into the bitter Norwegian winter with a mysterious Polar Bear.

The show will be staged in a unique way that will keep cast, crew and audience socially distanced. It will include a mix of live acting, voiceover, puppetry, music and more, all performed on a livestream from the Clifford E. White Theater stage. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1-3 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 3 and 4. Tickets are available by phone (928) 523-9011 or by visiting the Central Ticket Office in the University Union.
