Laugh at life’s absurdities during NAU Theatre’s performance of ‘All in the Timing’

Nov. 8, 2018

A critically acclaimed evening of comedy by award-winning playwright David Ives will be performed by Northern Arizona University theatre students from Nov. 16 through Dec. 2 in the Studio Theater on the Flagstaff campus.

The NAU Department of Theatre’s production of “All in the Timing,” heralded by The New York Times as theatre that “aerobicizes the brain and tickles the heart,” presents a collection of short, offbeat, witty plays designed for a fun experience.

“All in the Timing” is about the absurdity of being alive and the possibilities of human connection said theatre lecturer and director David Weynand.

“A cast of characters find themselves in bizarrely skewed comic situations that reveal the quirkiness of human communication and connection,” Weynand said. “The characters are on a quest for the truth, and in a matter of ‘time’ they find it.”

Each short play in the series deals with life’s loves, connections and absurdity. The stories mix the surreal with the satiric and the poetic with the perplexing.

“All in the Timing” will be performed in the Studio Theater at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16-17 and Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 and 2 p.m. Nov. 18 and Dec. 2.

The Studio Theater is in the Performing and Fine Arts building (Bldg. 37). Admission is $8 for youth, $14 for adults and $12 for seniors. Tickets may be purchased through the NAU Central Ticket Office in the University Union, online or by calling (928) 523-5661.
