The second installment of the Hunger Games trilogy hits the big screen this weekend with the release of Catching Fire, and NAU’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences is hosting a conference to explore the book and movie series’ themes.
The conference kicks off with a screening of the first Hunger Games film at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, in Cline Library Assembly Hall. Faculty and student panel discussions and presentations begin at 9:10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, and will examine several themes including race and stereotyping, psychology and media violence, political symbols and post-traumatic stress disorder. The day’s events will conclude with a Hunger Banquet hosted by NAU’s Civic Service Institute.
