NAU Theater presents ‘Echoes of Flagstaff’

Echoes of Flagstaff

NAU Theater students will present a unique experience titled Echoes of Flagstaff at the Studio Theatre on May 4 and 5 at 8 p.m.

These student-written pieces are the products of a senior-level devised theater project.  “Devised theater” is a form of theatre that originates from collaborative, usually improvisatory, work by a group of people.  In this case, the final product will revolve around early Flagstaff history and stories.

“The students have been working hard all semester in the NAU Special Collections and Archives, digging through oral histories of the early buildings and families of Flagstaff,” said Season Ellison, visiting assistant professor of theater.  “They are in the process of creating a brand new theatre piece based on their semester-long research.”

Ellison explained that they have been drawn to acoustic music, single voice singing, and storytelling narratives.

Students involved in the devised theater project include Ayan Aunario, Rob Barnes, Colette Burruel, Bayley Chotena, Jon Cole, Drew Cummins, Sam Durfee, Emily Forest, AJ Hamilton, Katie Harney, Willie Hines, Zanden Hogrelius, Joycelin Jacobs-Schwartz, Jackson Ramler, Alli Ritter, Lucy Schuh, and Robbie Weber.

Tickets are $2 for NAU students, $14 for NAU employees and seniors, and $16 for general admission.  For tickets to all events, contact the NAU Central Ticket Office at nau.edu/cto or 928-523-5661.  Free parking is available in parking lot P13 and fee parking is available in the parking garage 96A.
