Northern Arizona University’s School of Music will host free concerts on the Flagstaff campus over the next few weeks, featuring Curry Summer Music Camp participants and instructors from around the country.
All performances are free and open to the public, and a performance guide is available on the camp website. All performances take place in Ardrey Memorial Auditorium, unless otherwise noted.
Since 1950, the NAU School of Music has welcomed thousands of artistically impassioned young musicians to the Flagstaff campus for an intensive period of musical training. An estimated 20,000-25,000 musicians have studied at the camp, which for some has become a family tradition for generations of campers or a gateway experience to becoming a student at NAU.
The camp stretches across three weeks in June and July: two weeks for senior high instrumentalists and vocalists and one week for junior high musicians. Campers represent a wide range of nationalities, including French, Russian and Chinese; economic and social backgrounds—many students benefit from a growing pool of needs-based and talent-based scholarships; and musical abilities that range from enthusiastic intermediate players to advanced pre-professional musicians.
Information is available at the Curry Summer Music Camp website.
