Northern Arizona University is among the Flagstaff partners asking you to pledge to leave your car at home Wednesday, Sept. 22, and join the World Carfree Network in promoting alternatives to car dependence and automobile-based planning.
The event was created to model a car-light community for both those who choose to drive cars and for those who choose to walk, bike or ride a bus.
Register at CarFreeFlag.com and receive a 20 percent discount coupon from participating businesses, plus a chance to win a bike trailer donated by Absolute Bikes, in addition to other prizes.
Mountain Line bus service will be free on the day of the event and will offer an increased level of service. From 4 – 7 p.m., Heritage Square will feature health care providers, nutritionists, fitness instructors, bicycle shops and other health and environment focused organizations.
Flagstaff is the only Arizona community participating in the event.
