A panel of scholars will discuss the complexities of immigration around the world at the free “Human Mobility” panel discussion at 6 p.m. today, March 4, at The W.A. Franke College of Business Gardner Auditorium.
“The topic of immigration is very timely, given our location on the border and how the nation’s economic crisis is impacting immigration,” said politics and international affairs professor Sheila Nair, a panelist at the event.
Rounding out the panel is Raymond Michalowski, a Regents’ professor of criminology and criminal justice, and invited speaker Cecilia Menjivar, a Cowden distinguished associate professor of sociology at Arizona State University.
The trio will touch on such issues as human rights, security, labor migration, and economic globalization.
The event is part of the Global Initiative Speaker Series, organized by the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Center for International Education, among others. The group also is planning a panel discussion later this spring on the topic of global health.
