The School of Music will present “Marcel Proust and Music,” an interdisciplinary evening focused on the captivating French writer Marcel Proust, as part of the Horizons Concert Series.
All events will take place on Monday, April 11, in Ashurst Hall.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a series of “In Context” presentations on Proust’s life and times given by Michael Vincent, dean of the College of Arts and Letters; Patricia Frederick and Erika Hess, from the Department of Modern Languages; Alyce Jordan, from the Department of Comparative Cultural Studies; and pianist Jeffrey Swann, the Adel Artist in Residence.
A recital featuring Swann and guest violinist Ida Kavafian,who appears courtesy of Chamber Music Sedona, will follow at 7:30. Swann will perform solo piano music by Hahn, Debussy, Wagner/Busoni and Fauré, and will be joined by Kavafian in Franck’s violin sonata.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $12.50 for seniors and NAU employees, $5 for children younger than 18. NAU students with ID are free. Tickets may be purchased through the Central Ticket Office at nau.edu/cto or (928) 523-5661.
