  • Annika Gustafsson, doctoral candidate in astronomy and planetary science, co-authored the article, “A Deep Search for Emission From ‘Rock Comet’ (3200) Phaethon At 1 AU” published in Earth and Planetary Astrophysics. The study presents a deep imaging and spectroscopic search for emission from (3200) Phaethon using the Lowell Discovery Telescope.
  • Shi Chen, doctoral candidate in applied linguistics, received a Doctoral Dissertation Award from Duolingo. The funding will support dissertation research that seeks to develop and validate a web-based test of pragmatics for speakers of English as a second language.
  • Sophomore basketball player Emily Rodabaugh earned her first Big Sky Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Award in the season’s opening week. She averaged 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in NAU’s first two games.
  • Four political science and international affairs students were awarded Spring 2021 internships with the Arizona Legislature and will earn 12 credit hours and be paid to work full-time for the spring semester. Mariah Gonzales will work for the Arizona Supreme Court. Nicole Campbell, Sidney Ferreira and Maelinn Chow will work for the Arizona House of Representatives.
