The Northern Arizona University Bookstore will host the community event Magical Moments in Fiction with author Roberta Parry from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 2.
Parry will showcase her literary work, including short stories, play monologues and novels. Parry, who grew up in Northern Arizona and now lives in Santa Fe, also will display some of her art. In addition to her watercolor landscapes, she created the illustrations and cover for her novels “Femme Tales” and “Killing Time.”
“Femme Tales” is a witty, playful, irreverent and sometimes campy revision of seven of the more sexist of the eighteenth-century Grimm Brothers’ tales from the experience and perspective of a twentieth-century woman.
“Killing Time” presents the journey of Boston Brahmin debutante Regina Irene Patterson. At age thirty-five, she hankers back to her year spent in Harden, Arizona when she was fifteen. Lost in confusion and nostalgia, she returns to Harden to find the girl she was and the woman she wanted to be. There she hopes to confront her ghosts and finally lay them to rest.
The bookstore is located at 1015 S. San Francisco St., building 35 on the Flagstaff Campus. Parking is available in the San Francisco Parking Garage south of the bookstore. The bookstore is a short walk from downtown Flagstaff, and the NAIPTA Mountain Line Bus Service Route 10 has a stop in front of the Beaver Street entrance of the store.
