Kirsten Bublitz, a sophomore at Northern Arizona University, will be signing copies of her new book, “Safe to Shore,” from noon to 2 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the NAU Bookstore
In Bublitz’s second book and first work of fiction, she tells the story of Mila De Luca, who has followed the same routine for four years: studying for classes, waitressing at her father’s Italian bistro, photographing sunsets at Lake Huron and trying to forget Westin Pierce.
Upon entering her senior year of high school, Mila wants to make up for all the days she spent working for her father and all the nights she spent wandering the walking paths of her lakeside home, Mackinac Island.
Through one move, Mila enters the high school world she never experienced, amending her relationship with Westin and introducing her to people who will change her life.
Bublitz is a Flagstaff native and studies English with an emphasis in creative writing. When she is not working on her next novel or writing a post for her blog, “Off to Neverland,” she spends her time at Holy Trinity Newman Center, her favorite place in Flagstaff.
