Northern Arizona University’s Veteran Success Center is hosting events throughout the week, beginning Monday, Nov. 7, to celebrate all veterans and active military.
Kicking off the week, representatives from the Veteran Success Center will be collecting donated items for care packages that will be sent over seas to deployed military. Donations—which can range from hygiene items, non-perishable foods, games and more—can be dropped off from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, and Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the Hot Spot in the University Union. During this time, community members will also have an opportunity to write a note of appreciation to veterans.
A panel discussion, focusing on Native American veterans and their transition from military to civilian life, will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the Native American Cultural Center.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, a public display on the west side of the University Union will showcase the history of Veterans Day with written experiences from veterans of NAU’s student community.
Wrapping up the week, a special Veterans Eve tribute honoring veterans and active military will take place from 5:30-6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, at the base of the flag located on the west lawn of the University Union.
