Flagstaff commuters are ditching the car keys for bicycle helmets May 21-26 to participate in this year’s Bike to Work Week, packed with events meant to get your wheels spinning.
A schedule of the week’s happenings is available online and includes daily contests, worksite competitions and breakfast stops.
Kicking the week off is Flagstaff’s community-wide Bike Bazaar on May 21 at Heritage Square featuring a bike swap, parade and games.
On May 24, NAU employees and students are invited to Bike to Breakfast and join the Environmental Caucus’s Transportation Action Team from 6:30 to 9 a.m. on NAU’s campus. A breakfast stop map can be found online, featuring all the locations offering coffee, juice, muffins, bagels, donuts and other breakfast treats to fuel your Wednesday commute.
Other events continue throughout the week.
People planning to partake in the annual event are encouraged to log their rides online, where daily raffle prizes will be given out to participants. Ride all five days and enter to win a grand prize.
If your commute takes you to NAU, be sure to tag your bike with a green sticker as the campus-wide abandoned bicycle roundup begins late next week. The free stickers are available at the University Union, du Bois Center, Health and Learning Center, Residence Life and Facility Services.
