Why I give to NAU

This year’s employee giving campaign will begin at the end of the month, and I wanted to take a moment to talk about why I support NAU.

I give back because NAU is my community. I am a full-time staff member on the University Advancement team, but I am also a student, working toward earning my degree in business.

I also give back because NAU is where I get involved. I get involved through my work, because my work matters. Our university is committed to providing the best experiences possible for students, and I see the impact that our collective efforts have in my daily work. I also get involved through campus organizations like the Classified Staff Advisory Council, because my voice matters. As employees, our voices matter.

NAU is the place where I take my kids for soccer camp, and to see “The Nutcracker” at Ardrey Auditorium. It is the place where my daughter’s Girl Scout troop went to see the NAU women’s basketball game, which was a fun experience that they will remember for years.

Those are just a few of the many meaningful examples of why NAU is important to me. So when I think of giving back, I like to give back to those organizations that have allowed my family and me to grow and enjoy the experiences of being part of a community.

I encourage you to join me in giving back during this year’s employee giving campaign. We are all here to build a stronger community, and to help our students become who they are meant to be.
