Vice President of University Advancement to return to teaching

Mason Gerety

With 22 years of service to Northern Arizona University, vice president of University Advancement Mason Gerety will transition to a different role. Effective July 1, he will return to instructing finance as a faculty member for the W. A. Franke College of Business.

“As NAU employees, all of our endeavors, no matter where we work and in what role, are focused on our students,” Gerety said. “Teaching is a great passion for me and what drew me to this university. I look forward to the opportunities that await in the classroom.”

Gerety has led University Advancement and served as President of the NAU Foundation for seven years, including overseeing the $100 million Campaign for NAU. Prior to joining Advancement, Gerety was the business dean and secured the $25 million gift from William A. Franke that renamed the college.

“Mason’s energy and enthusiasm for Northern Arizona University have taken our philanthropic efforts and accomplishments to new levels,” said NAU President Rita Cheng. “Our students and faculty have greater support and resources because of his vision for fundraising, and he will continue to contribute in significant ways as a faculty member.”

An interim replacement will be named soon.
