As the need for nurses at Yuma Regional Medical Center continues to grow, so is the support for providing local degree programs for nursing students.
NAU-Yuma recently announced its commitment to serving the evolving higher educational needs of the lower Colorado River region.
“Yuma Regional Medical Center is one of the largest employers in the area,” said Krista Rodin, associate vice president at NAU-Yuma. “We are very interested in partnering with the center to help fill its need for qualified and highly skilled nurses.”
According to a recent survey conducted by Yuma Regional Medical Center, more than 267 people responded favorably toward expanding nursing programs in Yuma County. The center projects the need to hire 1,300 additional registered nurses by 2015.
“We are excited by the positive results of the survey,” said Ilene Decker, interim executive director of NAU’s School of Nursing. “We welcome the idea of working to expand the capacity of Yuma’s nursing programs.”
